Bollywood hottie John Abraham can’t remember the last time he had taken a break. And though the actor’s planning to take a few days off later this month, he says it will be a working holiday. Films apart, five fingers shoes , keeping him busy is his production house that’s gearing to foray into filmmaking. But fresh off the success of his latest release and another hit earlier this year, the actor admits that it’s been a good year — professionally. Personally, it’s been no different, as John seems to have apparently taken his friendship with good friend Priya Runchal to the next level — the two have been seen making public appearances as a couple of late. In a chat with DNA, the actor gets candid about his future plans:
You’ve had two hits this year — your recently released comedy and the action thriller Force. What are you more comfortable with?
Well, action’s always come easy to me, so it’s something I’ve always been comfortable with and can identify with the Action Abraham tag. As far as comedy is concerned, I do feel that I’ve evolved a great deal.
What do you prefer — your action image or sexy tag?
The action image is sexy (laughs).
Mainstream masala entertainers seem to work better for you, as compared to your experimental roles…
Whether those films work or not, they’ve all helped me evolve as an actor. But I know how important a hit is to continue doing the kind of films you want to. But yes, for now I will leave those films to my production house.
Is that why almost all your films in hand now are action thrillers or comedies?
No, that’s actually just co-incidence that Race 2, Shootout at Wadala, Housefull 2 and I, Me Aur Main… all fall under these two genres. But what I am really keen on doing now are action comedies like Rush Hour.
Would you want to remake the Hollywood flick?
Certainly. In fact, my production house is looking at acquiring the rights of several international films, not just from Hollywood, cheap coach purses , but from across the globe as well.

To be honest, I think I’ve been kind of callous about these things in the past, but now I want to maintain the sanctity of my personal life and fiercely guard whoever’s in it. I am not shying away from commitment, and I do want to see myself in that settled and serene personal space. I’m moving towards it, but it’s not something I want others to decide for me.

It’s tough to hear a Sarah Jessica Parker voiceover and not immediately think ‘ and the City? Ask most people and they’ll tell you that dying in a plane crash is the most frightening death they can imagine. Director Martin Guigui laughs, looks us all in the eye and says, “Want to bet?” Guigui is a director (My Ex-girlfriend’s Wedding) who usually makes us laugh. But in “Beneath the Darkness,” he explores the psychotic world of a small town mortician who enjoys burying people alive. In Bruce Wilkinson’s screen play, the victim is thrown in a coffin screaming for mercy. There is none. Well, almost none. “Want company,” the mortician asks with a grin? He throws a flashlight into the coffin and slams it shut!
Guigui has apparently been studying terror movies that work. “What ever happened to Baby Jane?” “Kill Bill 2″ and certainly, coach purses outlet , “Psycho!” There’s a touch of all three thrown in with a little “Nancy Drew.” But there’s freshness in the way Guigui pieces together a story that keeps us guessing and sensing that we’re going to see something even worse. The hero of the movie is one of their own; rebellious, distracted and a loner, yet brave enough to confront and expose the evil in his town.
It just happens to be Eli, the mortician, a psychopath monster. Veteran actor Dennis Quaid plays the douchebag, asshole, nut-ball with perfection. According to executive producer as Doc Holliday in “Tombstone” In any event, Quaid is so menacing, (watch his eyes and twitching mouth) that he only has to raise his hand and you expect to see an axe in it. In fact, Quaid is so wacky that one isn’t sure whether Guigui is satirizing horror movies or just letting Quaid have fun.
Travis (Tony Oller) is our teenage geek hero. He is tormented by the memory of helplessly standing by and watching his younger sister die. That gives him a sort of “I don’t give a shit attitude,” especially about school and the track team. But he becomes curious about seeing two eerie silhouettes dancing in Eli’s upper floor bedroom. He should have minded his own business.
Abby (Aimee Teegarden) is Travis’s perky but nosey girl friend who goads Travis into taking a closer look. The plot would work well enough without her sexy teasing, but Travis has to find his groove somehow and lets Abby talk him into breaking into Eli’s house–at night. Not a very good idea. Soon both find themselves at the mercy of Eli who plans to bury both of them. Bravo to Geoff Zanelli for his nail biting musical score. It faithfully accompanies every emotion of fear and terror the audience feels or is it the music and not the scene?
I must warn you. The opening scene of “Beneath the Darkness” is so terrifying and so disturbing that you’ll want to get up and walk out. I mean, who need this? But you’ll be glad you stayed, to let director Martin Guigui take you to the edge time and time again. And you never know? You might meet a new friend, the guy or gal you’ve been grabbing next to you. In Beneath the Darkness, Ely Vaughn (Quaid) is a pillar of the community in tiny Smithville, Texas. The town’s mortician, Ely has been revered since his days as the high school’s star quarterback. But since the tragic death of his wife two years earlier, Ely has withdrawn from his neighbors, abercrombie sale , while local teens spread stories of supernatural goings on at Ely’s mansion–which is also the funeral home. When high school friends Travis (Oller), Abby (Teegarden), Brian (Lunsford) and Danny (Werkheiser) decide to check out the rumors, they are shocked to see the supposedly grieving widower dancing with a mysterious woman behind the curtains of his bedroom window. Their curiosity aroused, the four teens wait for Ely to leave the house before breaking in to investigate. But instead of finding clues to the woman’s identity, they stumble on a grotesque, hollister , long-hidden secret. The film we are about to review is called, The Woman. It’s apparently a loose sequel to another film called The Offspring. Now since I hadn’t seen The Offspring I had no real clue what this one was going to be like until I just shut up and watched it and now I can say it wasn’t that bad..Not bad at all actually. I’m pretty sure any man hating feminist out there would get a giant kick out of it to be exact. Since all men are evil and we enslave women and all that jazz ya know? That being said I must still admit that I wanted to see the males in this film die in the worst way possible..So, great job!!
When a successful country lawyer named, Chris, captures and attempts to “civilize” the last remaining member of a violent clan that has roamed the Northeast coast for decades, he puts the lives of his family in jeopardy. Now you might ask yourself why someone would find a wild woman in the woods and want to keep her. I asked myself this same question as well. Clearly no sane or normal person would want to do such a thing. But as this movie goes from start to finish we seem to notice that Chris and his family aren’t really what most of us would call “normal”.
A movie like this one is a little complex to break down. On one hand you have people doing things that you wouldn’t normally see people do in certain situations. Things just lack real logic. Like for one, how could a jungle woman live in the jungle that long without being noticed? And why would someone who spots her in the woods want to go through the trouble of capturing her and keeping her as a pet of sorts? Well the part about her being in the woods and not being noticed is something we never really clear up. Perhaps I should see The Offspring for that answer? But the other part there becomes fairly obvious as the movie rolls along.
Looking passed that however, we have a film with one of the more interested and unique story lines we’ve seen in some time. Not only is the story very different and somewhat compelling at times. The actors in this thing work great, for he most part, to make everything just seem to flow and work well. Now I must call attention to the teacher of one of Chris’ children in the film. Her line delivery and acting just seemed somewhat off in this. But would you hold it against me if I also said that she was just soo darn cute and likeable anyway that you just don’t care too much? I’m sorry if that’s or makes me sound like a jerk but it’s true. On the other end of that issue, credit MUST be given to Sean Bridgers who plays “Chris” and Zach Rand who plays his son “Brian”. They are very VERY hate-able in this movie and that’s just what they need to be.
As our film unfolds upon our viewing, The Woman, in the film The Woman, played outstandingly by Pollyanna McIntosh who’s soo pretty I’m sure it was hard to make her look savage, just steals the whole thing. She’s never made out to be a bad person, just a survivor taken from her natural habitat. And once the film reaches it’s end you’ll be rooting for her to get her revenge on anyone who might have wronged her in the film. It’s really a lot of fun to see. And to top it off, the whole movie packs a few twists, turns, and surprises to keep things interesting. If you get the chance to see, The Woman, I think you should take it. It’s a pretty cool flick. I liked it pretty well. I do kinda wish it got a little bloodier there towards the end, but I think it was just fine for what it was. Not sure it makes me want to backtrack and watch The Offspring anytime soon, but I think you’ll get by just fine having not seen it when it comes to seeing cheap five fingers shoes , The Woman. Let this be a big moral lesson to you all that you should never try to capture women you find in the woods.

Michael, who has never forgiven his father’s cruelties, has just completed a roman a clef about the family’s troubled past, “Fireflies in the Garden.” Title, also that of a Robert Frost poem, cues memory of a time when young Michael embarrassed Dad in front of colleagues by plagiarizing the poem, and was brutally punished.Not content with mere allusions (and exemplifying its subtlety level), pic shows Michael and young cousins literally swatting at fireflies with badminton rackets. But then, this is a family that considers it fun to explode fish with firecrackers.
Apparently aspiring to the dark comedy of “Igby Goes Down,” an earlier Senator production, Lee’s semi-autobiographical script fails to sustain any tone convincingly. Dialogue lacks wit hollister , relying overmuch on vernacular (“It sucks” is a frequent comment) and the F-word. False happy ending is in no way earned.Perfs are all over the place, from Dafoe’s one-note monster dad to Boyd’s simmering resentment. On the distaff side, Roberts and Watson at least come off as warm mothers. Moss is a cipher treated as a deus ex machina.
